TIPS FOR CAMPING WITH DOGS
If you are taking your canine family with you camping, we have put together a few tips for you while traveling.
Don’t forget to bring food! It’s best to store food in zip-up storage bags for easy storage. Bring the water and food bowls as well.
Chew toys are a great distraction on long drives. It keeps you dog from getting bored, and is a fun treat for them. Try to get long lasting chew treats, they can provide hours of entertainment. Toys from home are also a good way to relieve boredom on the road and while camped.
Fill water bottles with water from home. Water can taste and smell different in other areas and your pet may not want to drink it. You can also provide them with bottled water.
Bring your leash! We suggest bringing a spare just in case one gets lost, you won’t have to worry about finding a store to pick up a new one.
Health papers are required at most campgrounds. These records should show up to date vaccines, and you may also need a Health Certificate from your vet. You may also want to ask your vet about calming medications if your pet gets stressed while traveling. Keep your Veterinarian’s phone number on hand just in case of emergencies.
Grooming supplies. If you have an adventurous pet that will be swimming, digging or playing in bushes it’s a good idea to have shampoo on hand.
Make sure that your pet has ID tags on their collar at all times.
Most campgrounds do not allow you to leave pets unattended all day, especially if they bark while you are gone. So keep this in mind as you plan your camping adventure. Look into activities that your pet can be included in.
